چکیده

In this work, the capacity and the interference statistics of the uplink of high-altitude platforms (HAPs) for asynchronous and synchronous WCDMA system assuming finite transmission power and imperfect power control are studied. Propagation loss used to calculate the received signal power is due to the distance, shadowing, and wall insertion loss. The uplink capacity for 3and 3.75-G services is given for different cell radius assuming outdoor and indoor voice users only, data users only and a combination of the two services. For 37 macrocells HAP, the total uplink capacity is 3,034 outdoor voice users or 444 outdoor data users. When one or more than one user is an indoor user, the uplink capacity is 2,923 voice users or 444 data users when the walls entry loss is 10 dB. It is shown that the effect of the adjacent channels interference is very small.

The Impact of Imperfect Power Control and Multiuser Detection on the Uplink of a WCDMA High Altitude Platform System

Within the broad field of communications, considerable interest has been drawn towards High Altitude Platforms (HAPs) the past few years owing to their appealing features. Among the multitude of services that HAP systems are able to provide, HAPs have the potential to deliver 3G communication services. In this letter, we examine the impact of both imperfect power control and multiuser detection...

Forward link power control for high altitude platform station W-CDMA system

In parallel with terrestrial and satellite wireless networks, a new alternative based on platforms located in the stratosphere has recently introduced, known as High Altitude Platforms (HAPS). HAPS are either airships or aircraft positioned between 17 and 22.5 km above the earth surface. It has capability to deliver a wide spectrum of applications to both mobile and fixed users over a broad cov...

WCDMA Uplink Interference Assessment from Multiple High Altitude Platform Configurations

We investigate the possibility of multiple high altitude platform (HAP) coverage of a common cell area using a wideband code division multiple access (WCDMA) system. In particular, we study the uplink system performance of the system. The results show that depending on the traffic demand and the type of service used, there is a possibility of deploying 3–6 HAPs covering the same cell area. The ...
